A firearm is literally the power of life and death, and while some may fear having that power distributed to the furthest reaches of society, I do not. I fear the concentration of that power.

I would say "representative government" or "personal freedom", but either way, this looked like a link worth spreading around.

Equality of force means violent coercion is less/non effective and is replaced by discourse where they must convince others to get their way.

Personally owned arms are equality of force in the citizen government relationship.

Thank you.

Here is an article that covers the same idea:

https://www.medievalists.net/2018/04/medieval-origins-of-the-second-amendment/

The bizarre thing about the medievalist article is, despite demonstrating how weapons ownership helped create freedom, the author goes and starts damning weapons ownership in the last paragrah.

"the author goes and starts damning weapons ownership in the last paragrah."

Of course he does. Because who in the populace needs weapons when we finally see the benefits of state-sponsored socialism?

We're just troglodytes if we can't see how the blessings of socialism obviate the need for weapons.

<wry grin>  It seems that a nod to PC/socialism is required in order to have anything at all published nowadays.

No hard evidence.  Just seems that way.
