Some really neat photos of knocked out tanks

Mostly WW II, but some later.

There's a picture of a Sherman that was used as a test target. Wow...

Oh, and the machine reader narration is best turned off.

Boy, the insides of some of them must have looked like a hamburger explosion.

You kind of get used to the robovoice about halfway through.

Tanks are very dramatic for some reason.

With modern infantry deployed ATGMs are they still relevant?

"Sturm Tigger"
The wonderful thing about Tiggers
Is Tiggers fill opponents with dread
Their tops have six inches of armor
Their bottoms have massive treads.

They're bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy
Fun, fun, fun, fun, fun!
But the most wonderful thing about Tiggers
Is the massively oversized gun.

That was humorously bad. Very, very bad.

Very good.  As APS poet Laureate, though, I feel I can make one suggestion:  "And each side has a massive tread."  And optional.

Back in the late 80s when I was a cadet at USMA, the infantry instructors and armor instructors loved to argue about which was more essential on the modern battlefield.  Remember, this was the Cold War, and the Soviets had about a dozen tanks for each one of ours.  Bottom line then, tanks were great against small arms, but vulnerable as hell to anti tank missiles.  Infantry did like tanks on the battlefield.  Even a dead tank was pretty good cover.
