Seriously funny stuff!
« on: August 13, 2020, 09:40:39 PM »
OK, this is some of the funniest stuff I've seen on Youtube in a while.

I watched the first one (the linked one) this morning.

It was... humorous, but I was sort of annoyed at the thought that the best way of dealing with a growling pet is to beat it.

Yes, I realize that it's dark humor/satire/whatever, but it still bothered me.

But I'll give some of the other episodes a look because I love the Addams family and because damn, this woman looks like what I always thought Wednesday would look like all grown up.

Came across these a month or so ago, didn't realize you guys would enjoy it, my fault. Think I saw somewhere that the owners of the Adam Family franchise shut her down or were trying to.

She's really good at playing a grown up version of that character, be a shame if they stop her.

Watched a few more of the episodes.  That's a rabbit hole I don't have time to crawl down.  But I will anyway.

This one is pretty good.  Almost puts a more normal face on the character.

No. That character is played by Aubrey Plaza.

Adult Wednesday is Melissa Hunt.

Be sure to watch Ghouls Night In and especially Ghouls Night Out.

There's a joke in Ghouls Night Out that had me laughing out loud to the point I woke Seren up...

Looks like Netflix is trying their hand at Wednesday Addams
And it looks terrible
WTF is with Gomez?

One thing about the Addams family TV show is they talked about and/or did lots of evil/dangerous stuff, but you never saw anyone actually get hurt.  That scene with the swimming pool might have been better or funnier if everyone made it out without getting bitten.  Makes me wonder just how dark the humor is going to be.

To expand on my Gomez comment. In both the show and the movies Gomez was both both charming and creepy at the same time. In this he's just creepy.
Know what that reminds me of? This is a Tim Burton production and he did the same thing with The Penguin.

John Astin gets props for creating the role, but Raul Julia? He *expletive deleted*ing owned Gomez Adams.

Yeah, not sure I can get behind Gomez being a hunchback with horrifying teeth.  Neither the old black and white show, nor the fantastic 1991 movie, permit such a drastic character deviation.  He's supposed to be murderously charming, with a fiendish smile and lunatic wide-open eyes.

I like Luis Guzman and think he could make a good Gomez Addams but it looks like they creeped him up too much.

Just watched the trailer for the new Netflix series. You know, that could get me to reup for Netflix.

And I am absolutely intrigued by the casting of Luiz Guzman as Gomez.

I could see the much darker spin that seems to be behind this REALLY working.

The TV series and the movies were really comedy with a very thin schmear of horror-like elements. Basic 1960s TV pablum, and the movies honored that to a large degree, even with the brilliance of Raul Julia.

Damn... I'm REALLY intrigued.
