There's An Electoral College?

The NYT educates its readers and tells them that something called the Electoral College is actually what determines presidential elections.

Now the NYT is big on making mountains out of molehills, but it got me to thinking: What percentage of the population DOESN'T know about the Electoral College and how it works?

I'm asking about total numbers, not just voters, since this should be taught fairly early in school, and minors should already know about it long before they vote. I'm thinking though, that lack of education or "modern education" skews the number to much higher than I thought. At one time I might have guessed 25% and thought that was high, but now I'm thinking we might actually be closer to 50% and that might be low.

I would say your 50% is probably accurate if we're including people who don't really know how it works. I would guess less than 20% don't know about it at all.

I would say that should definitely be included, since it might be the greater percentage of the overall numbers.
