Who will win in 2022?
« on: November 06, 2020, 02:06:13 PM »
The mid-terms are going to be epic.

A lot of people, most of my family included, voted against Trump because he is just a big meanie. They didn't care about Biden at all and could not articulate the policy differences between the two.

That describes a lot of people.

And most of those people are not going to show up to vote in the mid-terms because there won't be Trump to rage-vote against.

And Biden if he's still there and Harris and whoever her VP is will have had two years of saying and promoting the absolute stupidest stuff imaginable.

The Dems already lost seats in the house this year and failed to take the senate and also lost big at the state level and probably local levels. In my city the POTUS vote went to Biden but the city council flipped to conservative so if it could happen here maybe it happened in localities across the country.

So that's two years of the Dems digging themselves in deeper, and then having an enraged, disgusted and frustrated electorate to push the dirt back into the hole.

Unfortunately there are not enough Dem senate seats up for the Rs to flip enough to get to making an impeachment stick. They can tee one up but they won't have the 2/3rds they need to convict.

Overall I expect this to be a high-water mark for the Dems if they succeed in pulling off this coup and after this it's going to be all downhill for them.

2 years is a long time in politics, but it will likely be a rough 2 years for much of the country.
At the moment I would predict a pretty significant "red wave".
In the moral, catatonic stupor America finds itself in today it is only disagreement we seek, and the more virulent that disagreement, the better.

C'mon guys, we still haven't figured out who won three days ago.  Two years down the pipe is a might early and will distract from present issues.

Pretty much this.

That said, I’d give the Rs the advantage at this point.  They came within a relative handful of seats of flipping the house, and as noted, without OMB on the ticket and the POTUS’s party usually losing ground in their first mid-term, smart money is on them getting plenty of flips in 2022 to take the house.  Good chance of expanding the senate, though probably only modestly considering the map.  Too bad the 2022 class isn’t the 2024 class.  Huge gains in the Senate would be likely if it were.

While my crystal ball is somewhat fuzzy right now there is one small clear spot, while it can't tell who will win it is pretty clear that the citizens of the US will be and always continue to be holding the shitty end of the stick until we can get term limits imposed and get rid of career politicians who are mostly there for personal gain.

I think it will be great if it happens, and history seems to indicate that it's the way of things for either party in the same kind of midterm, but yeah, it will kind of be at the wrong time. A 2022 flip will only be good for grinding Harris's agenda to a halt.

There's a good chance the senate now will be at 50-50, which is essentially a dem majority. A lot of crappy, crappy stuff could be rammed through in the next two years with Ds in the white house and both houses, and there won't be any way to fix it without an R president and R houses. At best 2024 or 2026.

If we can keep at least a one vote majority in the senate, we can possibly kibosh maybe 20-50% of the commie stuff. Gun rights will be lost though. As I said elsewhere, there are too many R senators who will happily "cross the aisle" on any number of gun issues.

I think states is where it is at. We have to try not to elect a D governor next year in VA, likely one with a pretty good scandal. But then again VA Rs make national Rs look smart....

Places like PA and GA need a red wave and clean house at the state level. Pass laws to protect elections.

At least for the GA runoffs you know the Trump team will have tons of lawyers all over Fulton County, so cheating should be kept to a surmountable minimum.  Both sides will be pretty motivated to turn out though.  Hopefully less so on the D side, without the POTUS to also vote for.

As I just posted in another thread, Abagail Spanberger sounded the alarm in a House Caucus Call right after the election. She essentially called out the squad, and Dems who have kowtowed to them, for the Dems losing what should have been secure seats and is predicting that the party will be torn to shreds in the mid terms if they don't alter course.

STAY THE COURSE, DEMS! NO POLICE AT ALL! MEDICAID FOR ALL! SOCIALISM NOW!

Spanberger's election is another one that doesn't smell right:

Oh look!  More "found" ballots!  It's an election miracle!
