I read the book, I think based on a recommendation from here, and enjoyed it.  It will be interesting to see how the movie translates.

I stopped reading when it mentioned Glenn Close.

I watched it, I didn't read the book, and I'm glad I didn't grow up like him or have parents with substance abuse. Glenn Close did a great job as grand ma and Amy Adams did a good job as an addict single mom.
