I know there are a few SCA folk here, just wondering if there's a chance of meeting any of you Memorial Day weekend?

You must be thinking of the Ren-Faire or perhaps Amp-guard, the D&D LARP group.

In the SCA, only the children use "rubber" swords.  We use rattan for most of the weapons. COmbat is full speed and full contact. You get very familiar with treating bruises. There is also the occaisional concussion and other "sports" type injuries.

Yan know, I've been meaning to get in touch with the SCA where I live, (nowhere near New Mexico) mainly for the weapons practice. I used to do a bit of SCA when I was younger. I was fairly good at it.
