Title: ACORN, Obama and an *actual* scandal
Post by: agricola on September 15, 2008, 11:57:47 AM
Does anyone know why the scandal-loving press seem not to have noticed this pattern of events?

False registrations by employees

In some locations, ACORN employees have submitted false voter registration forms rather than obtaining registrations from actual eligible voters.

    * In Ohio in 2004, four ACORN employees were indicted by a federal grand jury for submitting false voter registration forms.[16][17]
    * In January 2005 two Colorado ACORN workers were sentenced to community service for submitting false voter registrations.[18] ACORN's regional director said, "we find it abhorrent and do everything we can to prevent it from happening."[19]
    * On November 1, 2006, four part time ACORN employees were indicted in Kansas City, Missouri for voter registration fraud. Prosecutors said the indictments are part of a national investigation.[20] ACORN said in a press release that it is in part responsible in these individuals being caught, has fired them, and has cooperated and publicly supported efforts to look into the validity of the allegations.[21]
    * ACORN was investigated in 2006 for submitting false voter registrations in St. Louis, Missouri. 1,492 fraudulent voter registrations were identified.[22][23]
    * In 2007, five Washington state ACORN workers were sentenced to jail time.[24] ACORN agreed to pay King County $25 000 for its investigative costs and acknowledged that the national organization could be subject to criminal prosecution if fraud occurs again. According to King County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Satterberg, the misconduct was done "as an easy way to get paid [by ACORN], not as an attempt to influence the outcome of elections."[25][26]
    * In 2008, the Michigan Secretary of State office told the Detroit Free Press that ACORN had been submitting a sizeable number of duplicate and fraudulent applications to vote.[27]

Note: Obama was caught giving them $800,000 in August.

For heaven's sake, Obama had a cocaine habit and they completely ignore that. You know how the press is in the bag for him.

Scandals are only scandals when they're committed by Republicans.

There are about 40 ACORN workers here in Milwaukee who are facing felony charges for registering dead or non-existent people for the November elections. Yet the Democrats and the media insist that there's no need for voters to show ID.

Indeed - but surely the relatively unique thing is that you have a Presidential campaign directly funding, for stuff that appears not to have taken place, a group that has repeatedly been caught breaking electoral law.  In addition, of course, to the fact that he used to work for them.

A very distinct pattern has emerged over the last 18 to 24 months.  If we want to learn of high level economic skulduggery or political idiocy we must read European rags in general and Brit rags in particular.  Seems members of the fourth estate (which does not exist) are too busy to do their jobs.

How true...

A republican Senator is drummed out of the Senate for pinchin' an intern's butt in an elevator while a Democratic congressman gets a total pass for running a male homosexual whorehouse in his basement.

The mind boggles...

To get back on topic:
Obama is the darling of the US Media, a leftist, half black (why not half white?), never held a real job, a tool of machine politics. In other words everything your average journalist could hope for in a politician. they're probably drooling over the possibility of all the good scandals they can investigate during his presidency. they want him in office - he's news as opposed to boring, old McCain who doesn't have nearly the news potential of Obama.

Fox News just reported that Obama was their lawyer for 3 years.  They claimed he had other links to ACORN but I didn't catch the rest

At the time a few ignorant hicks were talking about Obama smoking dope and snorting coke, there was a MUCH more important drug scandal brewing, something FAR more serious than the drug use of a man who's going to be walking around with nuke launch codes in his pocket.

I'm writing, of course, about the ALLEGED USE OF STEROIDS BY A BASEBALL PLAYER!! Even the Congress held hearings on this world-shaking accusation.
