Title: Wolf hunting in ID may change drastically
Post by: BobR on February 24, 2021, 05:25:52 PM
Ben, will your bridge support a 25K pound truck and trailer? If it does I may have to come visit because I can afford the 39 dollar non-game license and looks like no tag fees to hunt those pesky wolves. I know the Potlatch area has several packs. The last time I hunted wolves in ID I was getting 350-500 dollars a pelt, I could do that again. :)

Yes, your rig is supported and there is plenty of space. However, from your link it appears you may need to buy a gun before you come by to hunt.  =D

I love the Potlatch area. Could do without Moscow, but really nice scenery.

A house panel on Tuesday introduced legislation allowing the use of snowmobiles, ATVs, powered parachutes and other methods to hunt and kill wolves year-round and with no limits in most of Idaho.

Sounds interesting.

I don't see the Feds letting that happen.

Wolves were removed from the endangered species list in 2011 and ID took over management of them under a 2002 management plan. I don't think the feds will have much of a say in how they are managedin ID. They are already managed as game animals, this just makes them non-game.

Wow, I wouldn't have guessed that.  One other state that had a hunting season for wolves hit the limit in just 4 days.  How long will they last if every hunter in ID goes after them?

They will be reclassified as migratory soon.

I'm hoping to draw a tag so I can trap for wolves in WI this fall, unless the skwirl kissers start filing lawsuits again and winning. I was able to purchase a preference point during the narrow application window.
