Title: Anyone heard of a search engine called "Result Hunter"
Post by: Grandpa Shooter on August 06, 2021, 06:29:50 PM
I had an ad show up just now for a search engine that claims to be for conservatives.  It would be nice, but has anyone heard of them, or tried them out?

About
Hi, I'm JT Smith

I made Result Hunter because I noticed big tech tends to all push toward one primary political goal, and it permeates their algorithms, communications, and donations That primary goal is to advocate for government to create a more elitist system where they can maintain their market dominance. To feed into that system they promote media company after media company that shares that goal, and punish employees, articles, and even users who participate in contrary political goals.

I strongly believe many, many evils in human history stem from unchecked governmental power, especially when groups are divided and identified by their traits and demographics.

So I thought, let's make a search engine that values individuals above collectives. Let's make sure that search engine promotes truth above social justice, intersectionality, and critical race theory. Let's create an online world in which businesses that share our user's values and fulfills their needs earn their money rather than businesses that may actually despise our user base and their values.

If that's something you're interested in, make Result Hunter your default search and we can work toward these goals together!

Haven't tried them out, figured I'd post that anyhow, but I wonder how they're going to defend themselves against the Left-Wing Juggernaut.

Just for grins, I entered the one-word search term <KAVANAUGH>.

I heard about it a few days ago, and got the impression it was brand new. If true, that would explain why some people have never heard of it.

The funny thing was, the first time I heard the name, I assumed it was a reference to the Left (media/tech wing) hiding search results about Hunter Biden.

Don't type it in wrong.  You might end up looking at a bad movie knock off.

I'm even finding some of that with duckduckgo. I think it's overall a pretty good search engine and Google alternative and I use it a majority of the time now. However, for stuff like reviews of businesses, tradesmen, etc., it seems I always have to end up going back to Google for the Google reviews, because that's just where people post.

I use Duckduckgo pretty much exclusively -- I'd say 99.8% of the time. For the once or twice a year I might want to use another search engine, I use Bing.

The utility of nearly all search engines seems to have gone backwards over the years.

It feels like the results are less a big net thrown out there for you than carefully curated returns based upon algorithms that filter out information you "don't need to know".

Ran across an article that points out nearly all search engines are Google based.

Bing is its own creature and DDG is Bing based as well is Yahoo.

There is a Russian search engine Yandex.com that is different from Bing and Google.

So maybe a combo of using Google, Bing and Yandex will help you avoid only seeing curated results from one perspective.

Not that I trust Google, Microsoft or the Ruskies
