Title: Coin Collectors Attention!
Post by: HankB on October 06, 2021, 10:15:23 AM
The U.S. Treasury may mint a TRILLION DOLLAR COIN soon . . . as a way to deal with overspending & debt limits.

At least the coin will be platinum, instead of worthless paper::

I do remember that being a theme in one Simpson's episode.

The paper is never "worthless". It can always be used to wipe your ass.

You can also put the coin up your butt and enjoy the cool, room-temperature sensation for a minute or so.

Can someone explain this?

Quote
"Voila, we'd have bought ourselves the equivalent of a trillion-dollar increase in the debt limit, without any impact on inflation," says Diehl.

How can the US mint print more money, a trillion dollar coin in this case, to raise the debt ceiling without affecting inflation?

Is this sort of a Babylon Bee site?

The only application I can think of is to print several of these and send them to China zero our debt to them.  Then turn around and tell all our banks they can't accept it as legal tender.  Never happen.
