Title: Judge BERATES 72-year-old man with cancer for not keeping his lawn tidy

'You should be ashamed of yourself, I'd give you jail time if I could': Judge BERATES 72-year-old man with lymph node cancer for not keeping his lawn tidy because his treatment left him too weak
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10398717/Judge-BERATES-72-year-old-man-lymph-node-cancer-not-keeping-lawn-tidy.html

Lehto's Law had this story.  Sounds like the judge lost all perspective for a case with just a $100 fine.  I can only assume she has had personal issues similar to this.  She has shown she lacks what it takes to be a judge.

This picture is from the article.  That does look pretty bad, but it also doesn't look like some sort of upscale neighborhood either.

Some actual judges have been watching too many hokey TV judge shows.

My opinion is what usually brings watchers to those shows is not "judicial temperament," but injudicial intemperament.

There’s a lot of local politicians, administrators, and judges that belong against a wall. I’d even argue that local governments are frequently more tyrannical than the federal government.

And then there are HOA's.

I came home from a month long stint of protecting freedom or whatever we did to a ticket from my neighborhood historic association that defined the sorry state of my grass and threatened future fines. Petty tyrants gonna petty.

I've often said that anyone who wants any sort of authority position should be automatically disqualified from getting it.

Ahhhh, but who listens to me?

"Id rather be governed by the first 1000 people in the Boston phone book than 1000 Harvard Graduates."

Various forms of this statement attributed to William F. Buckley Jr.

Him, they listen to.

Mr. Buckley said the "...than theDons of Harvard."  They are much worse than Harvard graduates. :old: :old:

It's an excellent concept.  Buckley himself generated a lot of variations on it, and folks (including me) have included their own variations.  This has resulted in a lot of would-be perfeshinil naysayers claiming he never said (this one or that one or the other one).

But, as I say,  the concept itself is full of sooth and savvy and amenable to variations.

Sort of like sqrt(E/m) = c.

Still makes sense if you use E for energy, m for mass, and c for the speed of light.

   >:D

Terry runs and hides at somewhat less than the speed of light.

Edited To Add:
viz:

sqrt(E/m) = c

(E/m) = c2

E = mc2

Uh... That looks a LOT like the alley end of my garage workshop.

If they can't get past the growth to mess with stuff, well, they can't mess with stuff. The side alley has some pallets in it, with stuff growing through it. The garage door is bolted shut, with a big crossbar. Yeah, I'll probably hit the mess with something before spring to knock it back a little.

Whatever soul or portion thereof you signed away to the HOA when you bought the place, including having granting them  the right to levy penalties for violations.

I learned a little about this when a CB buddy of mine had to string a vertical up his fireplace chimney.  He said he didn't care about the smoke dirtying it up.

Like every job, there are good judges and bad judges.  And some judges get Black Robe Syndrom and think themselves gods among men.  Guess she had BRS.
