Amazon's Alexa, the voice assistant that was introduced in 2014, is part of a devices unit at the company that is expected to lose about $10 billion in 2022, according to Business Insider.

The new report comes as Amazon is cutting roughly 10,000 jobs, with positions already eliminated across the company's Devices and Books businesses, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy told employees last week.

Alexa is part of Amazon's "Worldwide Digital" unit, which includes the digital voice assistant, the Echo speaker, and Prime Video. In the first quarter of this year, that unit lost $3 billion, Business Insider reported, citing internal data.

Wonder how much Rings of Power factors into this since Prime Video is part of the loss.

We have an Alexa Echo with the screen. It’s a piece of *expletive deleted*it. Slow to react, doesn’t understand commands, their apps for control/setup are confusing as *expletive deleted*ck, hell other than the shopping portion of Amazon’s app it’s confusing and hard to find settings. I’ve never been impressed with Prime’s video offerings when we’ve had prime, and everything seems to require extra subscriptions.

They are getting rather user unfriendly and other apps and services offer more with less hassle.

Why would you even have one of those things in your house?  I'm opposed to devices listening to me on general principle, but still have a cell phone.  Having Alexa around just seems like inviting the *expletive deleted*ing Stazi/NKVD into your home.

As a Tolkien and Robert Jordan fan, I cannot begin to describe how pleased I am that they are hemorrhaging money.

I'm also rather excited over the rumors that the whole reason Bob Iger is back at Disney, is to emcee the union of Disney and Apple.  I'd be pleased as can be to see both of those go down the woke-shytter together.
