Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer is using a frog puppet in a campaign video to hammer Obama administration officials for failing to read her state's recently passed immigration law, even as they criticized the measure.

In the video, which is paid for by Brewer's re-election campaign, a green frog leads a sing-along about the importance of reading, transposed with video of congressional testimony by Attorney General Eric Holder and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. "Reading is really super swell," sings the frog. "Reading helps you know what you're talking about."

During recent appearances on Capitol Hill, both Holder and Napolitano, who have spoken out against the law, allowed that they had not read it.

Brewer is up for election in 2010 and had been trailing her likely Democratic rival, Terry Goddard, by as many as nine points in statewide polls before she signed the immigration law. A recent Rasmussen poll showed Brewer leading Goddard by 13 points.

Brewer posted the video on her Facebook page and at www.SecureTheBorder.org, where visitors are asked to sign a petition that reads, "I demand our border be secure and oppose any boycott of Arizona." More than 83,000 people have signed the petition.

I love it!  AZ residents what is your take on the Gov?

A ninny "for the childrenz!!11!one!" type of Republican governor, that isn't very conservative.

She's doing some things now to try to appeal to conservatives.
-Constitutional Carry (CCW not required)
-Immigration Bill

But, she has been pedaling a 1% sales tax increase rather than cutting BS programs, and pedaling it HARD.  And won.  I'm still irked by it.

...And, she thinks a general population 3:2 endorsement of the sales tax increase translates somehow into a REPUBLICAN PRIMARY endorsement of the sales tax increase.  Completely off her rocker.

I'm voting for [not her] in the primary.

Ok Red, srs question as I haven't lived in AZ in quite a while. Haven't they cut the budget by ~$2 billion in the last couple years? And aren't a lot of the expenses the state deals with related to illegals? I'd also imagine that with the raping property values in AZ have taken a lot of other tax revenues are down.

So while I support slashing the budget as much as the next guy, it sounds like she may have been making a lot of effort to slow spending. And the tax has a hard end date, so that's a plus. I dunno, just seems like she's got a lot going for her even if she isn't your perfect candidate, esp since you're way more libertarian than most R's.

Axing that stupid metro-area train would recover about 10-15% of the shortfall on its own.  Maybe more.  I doubt the projected operating expenses are honest, since there's been a LOT more collisions with motorists and homeless people than initially expected, and a LOT more vandalism.

Taxes retard the economy.  We need a vibrant economy.  The result will be me deliberately buying more durable goods in the $50-$1000 range online rather than at local retailers, and dodging sales tax entirely.

I doubt I'm alone in that self-centered assessment.  I would sometimes buy something locally deliberately to help out local economy or get it "right now" even if I knew I could get it cheaper online, if I could wait a week for delivery.

Taxes should NEVER increase.  Businesses don't increase their price for the same quality of good (and survive, anyways).  Govt increases the price of the good, but drops the return to the investor (us).

If Govt can't do what needs done at a fixed tax rate, it's because they're attempting to do too much.  Cut services, starting with feel-good $#!+ entirely before you touch police or schools.

Don't threaten police and school budgets when you have bull$#!+ like the rail system here that could be removed and eliminate traffic problems at the same time.

So who will you be voting for instead of her? How are they better, and will they be able to do more than she has? No one is perfect, but she seems a damn sight better than most of the governors from when I lived there.

Primaries are still a ways off, and I haven't researched the other choices.

All I know is I favor [not her] currently.
