Senate bill to make spear hunting legal.

Not for me, but totally awesome for somebody who can pull it off.

It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

Help me here.

I thought spear hunters stabbed their animal with the spear, like bear hunters of old.

But this guy throws the spear? Are you supposed to throw? Or stab?

The bill sponsor says it applies to both.

Getting into stabbing distance to a big game animal is a lot more work than getting to 20-30 yards.  I pull that off all the time rifle hunting in trees.

I wonder if this will make atlatls popular again.  It'd be interesting to see what could be done with one if modern engineering were applied to it.

If it's legalized, I have reason to take my atlatl out and have some serious fun, along with possibly pissing off a buck enough to nail him with a boar spear.... =D

What about roping deer from horseback?  =D

I can't think of anything in TX game laws that would make it illegal, but I've only heard of it being done with hogs.

My horse used to be scared of deer, so one time we chased a couple deer a little ways - that teaches the equine mind that anything that runs away is not to be feared.

Yeah, that went well ...

For a long time after that, he wanted to chase every deer that we saw  ;/
