by passing the Amateur Radio Technician Class exam. I took the "no code" version and passed with a 32/35.
I had been putting off attempting the exam because I would have to track down a testing opportunity and pay for the exam. However, I noticed a sign at the local fairgrounds last week stating a hamfest was going to be there Sunday (today). When I checked out the details online, I learned they would be offering free exams to anyone who walked up. I couldn't resist anymore, so I found a free online study guide and started studying Thursday night. With that study guide, I went from scoring 20/35 (I took a practice exam first to see where I was weak) to 30-34/35 via online exams with very little effort.
Off to find my pocket protector...
