President Acts on Gun Control where Congress won't !!!!

Quote
One new policy will end a government practice that lets military weapons, sold or donated by the U.S. to allies, be reimported into the U.S. by private entities, where some may end up on the streets. The White House said the U.S. has approved 250,000 of those guns to be reimported since 2005; under the new policy, only museums and a few other entities like the government will be eligible to reimport military-grade firearms.

CMP is a private entity.  I don't know if this will affect them... I sure hope not.

There's also something in the story about stopping "felons" from registering firearms to corporations rather than themselves.  Not sure if this is the truth, or Obama is going after corporations and trusts because it's a good way (for us) to handle inheritance of any firearm and multiparty ownership of NFA items without hassle from FedGuv.

Going after CMP imports would show his true colors, not that he already has.  Banning import of M1 Garands as "military grade assault weapons" would show that even under their "we won't touch sportsmen's guns" rules, nothing is safe.

As to the corporate entity, I wonder if any such law would exclude government agency ownership of firearms for issue?  Be funny if, like the mag capacity limit in New York, they forgot to except LEO's from the restrictions...

Anything to make it more difficult.  That is the way of the bureaucrats.

Time we started working on that assumption.

Will this import ban affect Saigas and Russian ammo?

Doesn't sound like it.  But that's probably next.

By banning the re-import of C&R/CMP rifles and preventing gangbangers from creating corps to buy machine guns.

Tam nails it on FB here:

And here:
Quote
The NFA CLEO sign-off requirement is racist. An insightful commenter at Sebastian's place noted:

"I would counter that the NFA trust “loophole” is not a loophole at all, but rather a legitimate way around the local LEO signoff, which is in reality nothing more than a Jim Crow measure designed to ensure that only whites have access to NFA items.

When you consider the fact that the original proposed NFA included all handguns and that when you adjust for inflation, $200 would be about $3500 today, it becomes clear that the intent was to make it nearly impossible for anybody but the rich to have access to any useful firearms."

Why are anti-2A people supporting this racist proposed rule change?

What if you add a bowl to the rifle?

The Walter Cronkite Vietnam video series shows a bunch of servicemen doing that with a shotgun.

Hmm. I guess I should have read the article before I posted. This seems to be US reimports only, not all milsurps. Nevertheless, they still need to explain the dangers of a basically antique, heavy ass Garand with an 8 round clip.

I got totally ripped off on my 98Ks. Not a single one with the shoulder thing. They did come with cosmoline in the barrels, which as we all know coats bullets as they pass through the barrel to make them slick so they can pierce armor.

Is THAT what it does?   I'll have to try that.
I thought it caused potential barrel obstructions and possibly blew up the barrel. [tinfoil]

Yes, they really do hate us and mean us harm.

Time we started working on that assumption.

Combine it with something like Pascral's Gun Violence Prevention and Safe Communities Act that would push handgun taxes up towards 20% and ammo taxes up towards 50% (unless you're the govt) and push the NFA taxes to $500 from $200 and $100 from $5, then try to keep a straight face during your next debate with someone advocating shaving away your gun rights with a claymore.
