Oklahoma blue laws on high point beer.

But what's the purpose of not selling it cold? They want a "waiting period" or something?

^^^I have heard it explained that it cuts down on people drinking the beer as they drive away from the store.  Who wants to drink warm beer while driving?

Who wants to drink warm beer while driving?

The Germans.  =D

If they still sell lower ABV beer cold, seems like all you have to do is drink more of it as you drive away.

Funny, I have a friend who lived in Puerto Rico for a while, and she said all the gas stations sold alcohol in containers that looked like kids juice containers for drinking on the road. I forget the name the locals called it, but something akin to "road beer".

When the local city council was debating drive through alcohol sales, it was brought up that in a town 5 miles by 3 miles and bounded on all sides by 45-55mph highways, even if one could instantaneously swallow an entire case of beer, they shouldn't be able to absorb much of it before getting home.  Thus, the real concern for DUI would still come from bars and from stores well outside the city.

I think we're back down to $2.31 or so.
As to Oklahoma liquor laws....
You can't buy beer higher than 3.2 abv other than at a liquor store and they can't sell it  cold. Cause folks might buy it and drink and drive. Of course nothing stopping them from buy a bottle wine or cheap vodka and drinking and driving.
We should have a ballot measure to fix that in November. Your guess is as good as mine if it will pass.

Fricking gas prices are not going down like they should be in Northern Virginia. Wholesale is sitting at $1.67 a gallon right now, and we're paying an average of about $2.75. I'm seeing it lower in Arlington, $2.61, but it's much higher in other areas.

Heating oil wholesale is down to $1.539 a gallon, but the price in Pennsylvania doesn't seem to be slipping all that much, either.

Haven't seen it myself but heard reports of less the $2 in OKC.  Paid $2.68 for 91 octane for the bike yesterday.  Regular is running $2.38 I believe this morning.

They're finally building the gas station at our WalMart, so it'll be interesting to see if we finally get close to the prices 30 miles away in a town with a third of our population.  (Usually a 10-12 cent spread, though I've seen as much as 27 cents difference when it was $2.529 here.  They have a couple of overpriced stations, but three along the main US highway tend to be the lowest prices.)  That one is sort of on my way to DFW, (Adds about 5 miles on a 150 mile round trip to DFW, or 10 when going to aikido class in Weatherford to go through there and fill up.  Worth it with 35-38 mpg, especially when filling a couple of 5 gallon cans in addition to the 12 gallon tank.)

Which would be where? There are a lot of Costcos and KwikTrips...

About 10 years ago the WalMart in my Mom's town put in a big fueling plaza.

Less than a year later they yanked out out.

Roaming around Charleston, prices seem to be a pretty consistent $2.09 with a few as low as $2.04 (BP), which with my $.20 discount with my BP card and $.05 for using my USAA Mastercard puts me right at $1.79 a gallon.  Hello 1980's !!!!

And we have three refineries locally

Gasoline and heating oil futures are spiking today. Up around 3%.

Most likely it will be a short term blip in a trend of lower prices.

Reports out of China today that independent refiners have started buying more oil recently.
Plus, Chinese and US stocks are spiking today, as well.

We're paying about $2.28 a gallon in Hickory, NC right now.  It's been trending down about 3 cents/week lately.  I wonder if that will pause, or even reverse, with the increasing Chinese oil purchases?
