I'm just happy we live in a country where people can protest without being shelled by the government.

Gas jumped 18 cents this afternoon in Hickory.  The pipeline break in Alabama is already having an effect.
We had a little jump followed by a bigger jump in the last day or so and average seems to be about 2.09.

And some stations have actually ran out of gas.

There are reports of stations in the area running out of gas.  The latest news story I read today says the pipeline is still weeks away from being operational.
I need to fill the truck as I'm down to a quarter tank.

Still 2.09 this morning when I ran to the store. Station that ran out yesterday was still out when I passed it on the way to the store. Was getting a delivery when I passed it about fifteen minutes later on the way home.

Looks like any outages should be temporary and most if not all of the effected states have waived driving hours rules for delivery trucks, which should make getting gas trucked in a bit easier and more reliable.

We've assumed no reason to panic, but fill it up at a half tank or top off when reasonable and we see a good price protocols. I fully expect if stations running out of gas becomes a little bigger problem, that there will be more issues with idiots swarming a station every time they see a tanker making a delivery than actual problems caused by the disruption in the pipeline itself.

Prices around here range from $2.01 at the Speedway on North Ave near I-355 to $2.39 at a Shell on Rt53 in Lisle.  (with a BP across the street at $2.25  ;/

The place local to me are all $2.27-2.39.

So there is no "gas panic" around here.  Does anyone know who owns (and is a big donor to the Dems) CSX and will be getting rich off of shipping POL by train ??

CSX is a publicly traded company. Are you sure your not thinking of BNSF?

Yes, I know that Warren Buffet owns BNSF and managed to convince two of his favorite donee's to oppose various pipelines.  Since this latest POL problem is in the southeast and that's CSX's territory, I was wondering if another big Dem donor had a controlling or large interest in that railroad.

Gas around here is in the $2.07-$2.33 range (although you can get $.20 per gallon for a car wash at the higher priced places.)

Been meaning to kick start this thread...

Prices in my neck of Virginia are now pretty well settled in at the $2.19 -- $2.25 mark. They've come down a few cents in the last few days.

Not sure when the switch is from the more expensive summer blend to the more expensive winter blend...

It's been right around $2.50 here for weeks if not a couple of months by now.

Gas prices here have been odd, the past week. Most stations are at ~2.12. There's just a few that are at ~1.96 (and a whole bunch that are at 1.75, down south of town). There's two gas stations on either side of the road from each other, and they've been at 2.12 and 1.96 for a week.

The two gas stations I pass by daily (Brookshires (grocery) & Murphy) usually have the same prices.  Prices at both have been jumping around the last week - up to $2.05, next morning down to $1.95, next morning back to $2.04 and again back down to $1.94.  Today it was back up to $2.07.

Of course I needed gas on the day it was at $2.05.

Gas prices here in the KC area are running $1.95 - $2.05 range depending on which side of the state line you're on.  Taxes a little less on the Missouri side.

Colonial pipeline workers managed to blow up their pipeline yesterday in central Alabama.  This time it was about a mile from where the same pipeline broke in September, driving gas prices much higher in the SE.
Seven workers were injured, hopefully not too seriously, but there is no word on their conditions.  Homes were evacuated up to three miles from the site of the explosion.
Prices still haven't recovered to their original levels from the last time that pipeline went down.

Yep...

Wholesale gasoline prices this morning are up almost 16 cents per gallon at the moment.

Going to see that reflected in the pump price today or tomorrow.
