I passed one station the other day in my area of Northern Virginia where it was $3.27.

That's 50 cents a gallon higher than the station near me. The reason I think they can get away with that at that station is that it's the only one along about a 5 mile stretch of major road.

Gas jumped six cents here yesterday to $2.57.  It usually jumps 10-12 cents at a whack, but sometimes the increases come multiple smaller increments.  I expect we'll see another six or seven cent jump in a few days.

$2.68 at the pump at Thornton's in West Chicano...err West Chicago.  With $.05/per gallon off for using my Gasbuddy card and $.06 off per gallon using my Thornton's discount card, I effectively paid $2.57.  Which is $.40-$.50 less then just about everywhere else around here.

Most places are in the high $2.80's with some as much as $3.05.  I paid $2.65 at Pilot in Carol Stream.  List price was $2.73, but $.03/gallon off for using my Pilot discount card and $.05/gallon for using the Gas Buddy card linked to my debit account, and I saved $1.04 on the 13 gallons I bought.

Highly recommend the Gas Buddy card.  I save $.05 per gallon every time I use it to buy gas.

I paid $2.61 this morning. It's bouncing around in a fairly tight band the last couple of weeks. But, it will be going up soon because the price of crude has been creeping up.

Prices are continuing to trend upward in this area.  Depending on the station, $2.57 to $2.74.

Luckily I figured it where I should only have to fill up one more time while I'm here and then will be able to just make it to where it's almost $1 cheaper.

Don't you know that high gas prices are a BENEFIT to living in California?

Along with insanely high prices for everything else?

And all for perhaps the least responsive, least beneficial level of state services in the nation?

WHY DON'T YOU FEEL BLESSED?

Oil is over $80 a barrel, and OPEC is standing pat on production even with the upcoming loss of Iranian oil in the market.  Venezuela is a basket case and only getting worse.   Illinois probably produces more oil then VZ.

Anyway at $80 the small(er) American producers will be pumping out oil along with the shale producers.  Just what the Saudi's fear most.  The good news is that there's been a lot of consolidation so American producers don't need insanely high prices to make a profit.  Their breakpoint is around $55-$60 a barrel (or less in some cases), so the glut that OPEC is worried about come spring, may happen a bit sooner...

Brent's over $80 a barrel, but WTI, which sets the US trading standard, is $73 and change right now, so given our ramped up production, prices aren't as bad as they could be.

But, I'm expecting oil prices to stay high for the time being, unfortunately.

Went to Atlantic City, New jersey this weekend.  I'll tell you what I'm NOT paying for gas, is $3.05 for someone else to pump my gas.

Yeah, the price at the station nearest my house went from $2.61 to $2.75 on Tuesday, as well.

I guess that was the change over from the more expensive summer gasoline to the more expensive winter gasoline...

Two days ago (October 12), my usual #1 station was closed for alterations. The [now former] #2 was at $3.129 (which went down to $3.109 a day later). The no-name station down the hill from the VA hospital was $2.939, as was a Shell station on the same block.

By the way, this is all for E-10, regular grade. There is no ethanol-free gasoline sold at automotive pumps anywhere in my state. A few hardware stores sell it in sealed 5-gallon cans -- for around $25/can.

There has to, I have not seen a marina that doesn't sell non E gas. What about premium fuel, that is normally E free.

That's why I stated "automotive" pumps. I don't know what the marinas sell. I do know the airports will not (maybe cannot) sell to anyone except directly into an aircraft.

ALL [automotive] pump gasoline here is E-10. Your "normally E free" may be normal for your state, but it isn't "normal" everywhere.
