In May of 2020, gas price bottomed out locally at 1.499.

Here's this year's gas price paid just outside Austin, TX  (Regular, Shell)

01/07/2021     1.899
10/14/2021     2.799  (Up 47%. Highest price per gallon since 2014)

Yesterday I saw regular at our local Texaco station advertised at 3.09, but they're ALWAYS 20-30 cents higher than other local stations, probably because they're the ONLY local gas station that does auto repair as well.

In any case, seeing as who the culprit is for all rising prices (not just gas) . . . Let's Go Brandon!

Still flirting with $3 gas in this area.

Filled up yesterday for $2.99. A week ago I filled up for $2.71. Sure glad not to be making the 500 mile a week commute anymore.

Up to $3.239 at the local Citgo.

Even more expensive at the stations around the corner.

And oil continues to rise.

I paid $3.05 for 87 octane at a Virginia Costco on Saturday.  While I was pumping, the attendant was notified that the price would increase to $3.09 later in the day.

$2.85 per gallon here for the lower octane.  That is at Bucees which is usually cheaper than most.

Southwestern IL-ANNOY (just SE of St. Louis) has jumped over the last 2 days with an increasing number of stations going up to $3.559.
According to stlouisgasprices.com, there were a few stations around $3.279 but none were close to me.  I was lucky to find one station that was still $3.369 this morning.

I paid $3.255 yesterday. Over $40 to fill up because I was down to under 1/4 of a tank. That smarted.

The next fill up should be between 60 and 70 cents off the pump price (whatever that's going to be) due to my accumulated rewards points I get at my grocery store.

We just went over the $3 mark last night.  Yesterday gas was $2.87.  This morning it was $3.06 for the cheap stuff.

I've got 50 gallons worth of empty cans sitting here waiting to be filled.  I'd have filled them yesterday, but the doc said I shouldn't drive.

We are in the 3.05 range in SC. I love paying $65 a week just to get to work and back.

Costs me 2 gallons a day to commute.

That $1/hr raise isn't going to go far....

It's $3.86 in town and $3.65 at Costco. I read a local news story that apparently Idaho prices are slightly dropping while the rest of the country is going up. It's possible. The Eastern Pacific Northwest is weird with gas prices.

Different kind of fuel. $620.00 to fill my propane tank from 30% to 80%. That's a lot more than a 54% increase from last year and it's not even cold yet.

Let go Brandon. I would so love to shove my boot up the butt of whoever is actually running this country. It sure isn't Biden.

Wife said gas jumped to 3.20 in the small city she works in. I went and filled up tonight at 3.02 just down the corner from the house. As I was pulling out the tanker pulled in so I expect their price will rise by tomorrow to $3.15-3.20.

And people were wondering why I didn't want to move to a desk at the nice, new facility about 12 miles from my house.

Well, because I had a pretty damned good idea we were going to see hard spiking gasoline prices sooner rather than later and because I live right around 2 miles from the office where I chose to stay and work.

We bumped about 30 cents a gallon in the last week.  Most stations in this area are at least $3.25, many are $3.29 or higher.

$3.09 in Kansas City.  Not awesome, not crippling.

A rather left wing acquaintance told me he'd like to see gas a $10 a gallon, because the resulting market forces would help push electric cars.  I countered that the folks most hurt by that are working people who are just trying to get by.  Folks that probably drive used cars, can't afford $10 gas, and certainly can't afford a new electric car.  I also said that until we get reliable zero carbon electricity in the form of nuclear power, we really haven't fixed anything.  His perspective was that any form of economic, cultural or infrastructure change inevitably leads to hardship for some people.  But, that that those hardships are in this case worth it, because the alternative is extremely severe - climate change that threatens the survival of all humanity within a few generations.  He did agree that we needed to be building nuclear power plants.
