Stopped at the gas station on the way home.  Prices had dropped $0.02 since yesterday, down to $3.04 for the cheap stuff.  I had six empty 5 gallon cans and 1/4 tank in the truck.

I was able to get away from there for only $156.00.

$3.09 in Kansas City.  Not awesome, not crippling.

A rather left wing acquaintance told me he'd like to see gas a $10 a gallon, because the resulting market forces would help push electric cars.  I countered that the folks most hurt by that are working people who are just trying to get by.  Folks that probably drive used cars, can't afford $10 gas, and certainly can't afford a new electric car.  I also said that until we get reliable zero carbon electricity in the form of nuclear power, we really haven't fixed anything.  His perspective was that any form of economic, cultural or infrastructure change inevitably leads to hardship for some people.  But, that that those hardships are in this case worth it, because the alternative is extremely severe - climate change that threatens the survival of all humanity within a few generations.  He did agree that we needed to be building nuclear power plants.

Waiting for someone to declare the push to elec cars is racist because POC are the ones least able to afford it.

Up to $3.33 a gallon at the Citgo near my house.

Price of oil seems to have stabilized a bit this past week, but that can change. OPEC+ is having a meeting this coming week, and I don't know if FJB intends to beg the Arabs and the Russians to produce more oil or not.

Look at the bright side - a molotov cocktail costs about $0.80 today, where last year, it was just $0.50...

Filled up @ $3.12 a gallon yesterday afternoon.  20 miles down the road the same chain had it for $2.91.

Time to revive this given what's happening with prices...

Gas at the Citgo near my house had gone up to $3.39 a gallon.

Last week it dropped to $3.29 a gallon.

Yesterday it rose to $3.35 a gallon.

It's 3.09 at closest station. Went to KC area today and it was 2.99. Still over 70.00 to fill the truck tank.

Your wait is over.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/robertbryce/2020/09/24/california-assemblyman-says-states-push-for-electric-vehicles-fuels-environmental-racism/?sh=7c57294a2b9a

The guy isn't wrong. As fewer new gasoline vehicles are sold in California, that will push the price up on used gasoline vehicles.

As for the grid issues, California has already had to issues "no charge" orders for electric vehicles a number of times in the past year because the grid was so overtaxed.

Everyone in California seems to be ignoring that and there isn't, from what I can tell, any talk about expanding the grid OR power supplies. And it's not going to get better all by itself.

I can't wait to see the encroaching fall out from this in coming years as electric demand absolutely skyrockets.
