Ford to Cut 8,000 U.S. Jobs to Invest in Biden's Energy 'Transition'

The 8,000 Ford jobs in jeopardy, according to Reuters, are part of "a bid to reduce costs and intensify its focus on electric vehicles" and will be made to "Ford's salaried workforce, as well as the Ford Blue unit created in March to run the company's internal combustion engine operations." The positions to be eliminated have, according to Reuters' sources, not been finalized but the cuts "are likely to begin this summer."

*expletive deleted*ing Ford!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought it at $11 back in 2019 for the 5% dividend and sold half my stock when it was $23 back in January. I should have sold it all. I thought they were getting their *expletive deleted*it together, but it looks like they continue to go woke and broke.

Reading the current issue of American Motorcyclist one article is about how the fed's have OK'd the sale of 15% ethanol this summer.  Seems it's not normally sold during the summer, 'cause the hot weather causes more pollution from it.  This year they're claiming it'll lower the gas prices.

Anyone seen it in the wild?

I know of a new station between my place and Kansas City that has 15% and 85%. The way my truck is running I'm worried they are starting to dump it in the no lead tanks.

Saw $3.86 yesterday.

My Jeep tends to run about 17-18 MPG on "winter gas" and 19-20 MPG on "summer gas". I've been getting in the low 17 MPG range all year.
We can still get "pure gas" so no issues for the bike or the outdoor power equipment, yet.

Quite a few places local have the 15 and 85%. I can run it in my '11 "Flex Fuel" Ram 1500 but the loss of efficiency doesn't make up for the lower cost.

Gas prices have barely budged here in Northern Virginia. Still ranging between the high $4.60s all the way to $5.499 for regular unleaded.

We don't seem to be moving down much in Iderho either. It's $5.17 locally, $4.95 at the Costco.

$3.69 at the go-to station.  Filled two five gallon gas jugs and topped off the truck for $60 yesterday.  That included the 10 cent a gallon Murphy's club discount.  The discount is limited to 20 gallons now.  There used to be no limit.

Tesla has told users in Texas not to charge their cars during a heat wave.

The alert comes as the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), which operates the state’s grid, is calling on residents to conserve energy – in order to stop the grid being pushed to near-emergency conditions.

“A heat wave is expected to impact the grid in Texas over the next few days. The grid operator recommends to avoid charging during peak hours between 3pm and 8pm, if possible, to help statewide efforts to manage demand”, an in-car alert sent to Tesla owners reads, as reported by Electrek.

The local Murphy's and the Brookshires grocery store down the street (between Dallas & Tyler) were at $3.54 this afternoon.

There's still a long way to go before we get back to the $2.00/gal gas.  The rate it's going now, Trump will be back in office before that happens.

$ 4.19 this morning at the Marysville Costco 45 miles north of Seattle.  Down 40 cents per gallon over the past two weeks.

ETA: there are stations within a couple of miles of this Costco that are at $ 5.19 and some even higher.

Nice.

They mulch all of the plants in Hershey with coco bean hulls. It makes the entire town smell like you're inside of a chocolate bar, especially in the spring.

When the wind was JUST right in the spring, you could smell chocolate on the air.

I was filling up the car Monday at the same station where I buy my non-oxygenated premium gas for the small engines.  I noticed the sticker on the E0 pump that says it's for collector cars, offroad use, boats, and small engines now says purchase of less than 4 gallons is against federal law.  WTF is that about?  We can either ignore that when I fill up my 2 gallon can, or I can pump 2 gallons on the ground; their call.

I hadn’t heard of that, but a quick search shows that it is a decade old EPA rule relating to pumps which use one hose to dispense different ethanol blends. I guess the intent was to prevent high ethanol fuel remaining in the hose from changing the effective ethanol rating of lower ethanol blends.
