Saw $2.85 at a Citgo in Rutherford College, NC this evening.  That's about 12 cents/gallon less than the rest of the stations in the area.  Not that I would buy from Citgo.

Topped off the gas gauge backup (2 gallon can I carry in the trunk for when I miss my guess on the wonky gas gauge) for $2.91.

My son, who's left this area recently to find work in Odessa/ Midland, mentioned tonight that due the $80-ish a barrel prices a few wells have already shut down.

Ouch.
Gotta call my marina and see what it is.  Might get a full up if it's dropped enough.

Near the end of the season, popular port, about all the reasons why it is high there.

A couple friends got back from Canada and they said fuel was close to $9 a gallon at the marina they fished out of.

Most I paid at the dock this year was 4.10.

Checking online, the Pilot in Gary, IN where I will be topping off on Thursday enroute to Indy, is a $2.92, but with my card will be $2.87.

Meanwhile it's anything from $3.18 to $3.49 around here where I live.

Scout is only paying slightly less than California prices, where 87 octane is $3.30 to $3.50.

I rarely buy gas in Illinois.  If I top off in Gary before crossing back into Illinois, I will generally still have 1/4-1/2 a tank left when I cross the border again on my next trip to my parents.

Road my bike to work today, passed by a station 3.0000 for 87 E-10. Never seen fuel ever on a whole dollar price before.

The prices are still trending down in some places just outside the metro area, but only slightly. I still scored 2.55 gas today, though.  =)

So are the gas prices going to keep going up, or is it just a slight uptick, before they dip down again?

Hard to say.

There's speculation that the worst of the fall in oil prices is done. For the last few days crude prices have held stead in the $81-82 a barrel range; same with gasoline futures.

Some analysts say that we're going to mill at this level for awhile, others are saying they expect the price to drop down to the $75 range. All of that is speculative based on what they expect OEPC to do at their meeting in a few weeks (cut production). If they don't come to a production agreement, though, prices could continue to drop.

Also...

The weekly stockpile report came back showing an unexpected build up in crude reserves and a lower than expected drawdown in refined gasoline stockpiles, so prices are trending lower this morning.

I paid $2.95 a gallon this morning, and I've seen it as low as $2.91.

Never thought I'd see it again, but I filled up for $2.89 at a CA Costco yesterday. Diesel is still hovering near four bucks.
