Salvation Army Donation Choices
« on: December 31, 2018, 01:48:11 PM »
I was going to get in one last donation for 2018, but interestingly, the SA is only going to one donation page for me, for "local neighborhood donations". I usually donate to their disaster relief fund, but it doesn't seem to be an option anymore. The only option the page has is for if you want to specify another neighborhood.

I refuse to donate to "local neighborhood", because around here at least, it goes mostly to "drug rehab" type stuff. Maybe I'm just a crappy donator, but I prefer to donate to help people who are in dire circumstances through no fault of their own. I appreciate that others feel differently, but that's me.

I might have to switch to Catholic Relief Services for my last donation of the year.

You can pick the "General Disaster Fund" here.

Thanks! Maybe I missed it, but I couldn't find a link to that anywhere on the main page.

I dunno, I still might mix it up and give some to CRS as well. Haven't donated to them in a while.

But then some will argue that you are supporting pedophiles in clerical collars.

Fisher House and Team Rubicon if you want to donate to disaster relief services.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

I just drop a check in the kettle by Sam's Club or Walmart on Christmas Eve or the day before.

My poor Dad, suspected by many to be the Antichrist drops some money in the kettle. Then of course gets in a conversation with the ding-a-linger. The local pastor. Who invited him to church, which he accepted.
