Good grief!

No, toots, it's not magic. It's like, nature.

With a healthy serving of "science" to go with it.

I've been looking for some manatee skin boots.  Not having much luck, but I did find an article that said, "In the wintertime, the skin of baby manatee pups make delightful boots for your children to wear."1  :D

AOC decided to chime in on the weather/power situation in Texas and the problem is...
No green new deal and no focus on equity.

I heard South Texas Nuclear lost at least one unit due to the freeze.  I did not hear exactly why.

Not sure how they do it at the nuke plant, but everyone gets complacent down here on the Gulf Coast since we rarely see temps more than 5 degrees below freezing.  Once you drop below that, things that don't normally freeze start freezing.  Damaged insulation doesn't get repairs, lines that would be insulated further north are not insulated here.  I can think of at least one water line we did not insulate a few years ago (we argued about it) froze and cracked.  I also hear plants further north enclose critical areas in buildings and such.  In our case, we just don't put enough effort into maintaining robust freeze protection.  That might change since global warming is obviously causing all this and it will get worse.

It's likely not making the news right now because of larger issues, but it will interesting to see the number of ruptured pipes in homes throughout Texas when this is over. I bet plenty of people there haven't ever even thought of things like insulating outside pipes, keeping faucets dripping, etc.  With the overall numbers right now, I bet people with burst plumbing will run into the low hundreds of thousands.

What she just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
At no point, in her rambling, incoherent statement was she even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought.

I know we've talked about this here before, but I'd rather like if the green movement would start backing nuclear.  We need more nuclear infrastructure, but it's hard to compete on price vs "stuff we can burn".  If greenies are going to use regulation and economic controls to manipulate the energy market, please, please do it in a way that gets us a solution that makes sense - nuclear.

It's almost like the powers that be don't want cheap, abundant energy. Like they want to see most of the country actually living like the peasants, peons and serfs they see us as anyway.

About that.........

‘Planned Parenthood baby’ AOC wants to talk about how many lives PP has saved (others would like a word about that too)

How much money has she personally given to help even a few people not just her grandmother?  If it was so important, that number should be substantial.  I bet it is zero.

And if she's donated anything whatsoever you know she'd be bragging about it to everyone everywhere. And probably exaggerating the amount donated at that.

How dare Trump make that old lady's roof leak.  There is only one solution.  Free Puerto Rico from White Colonial Oppression.

Independence for Puerto Rico now!

Then it will be free to become a democratic socialist paradise!

AOC's problems are that she wants government to pay for everybody. She even posted that it was about her goals versus "just" her grandma. Somebody paying for just her grandma is individual(s) being charitable of their own free will to an individual (who isn't AOC).

I thought it was a nice touch that the one guy donated a "month's Tesla payment" given that AOC just bought herself a Tesla.
