Can I identify as a Mom for that program?

When they get their 80% tax bill for all these feel good programs they keep pushing think they'll sing the same tune?

Her: But the rich are suppose to pay for it!
Me: Stupid dear, you are the rich
Her: This is not fair! Waaaaaaa

According to one of his other EOs, yes you can.

It was unclear if any of the celebrities or business leaders planned to make a personal financial contribution to the program.

Nice bit of snark by the author at the end.

Means tested welfare programs have existed for some time, but I think these direct-payment stimulus programs are the start of something new.  We've given a substantial swath of the regular population (the majority of it?) free money as direct payments during the covid crisis.

Naturally, folks like it and will vote for it.  I expect we'll see this sort of thing continue, and ramp up.

$2,400 per month?  Is that for a normal mom or can I get a PornHub MILF for that amount?

The problem is the means test was always greatly flawed.  However, both have the attribute of a huge amount of money being spent for a small amount of money actually making it into the hands of people at the end.

I'm sure this wouldn't have any unforeseen consequences when it comes to teen pregnancy and follow-on criminality of the kids born to girls who really want a paycheck not a child.

This might be the start of how they steal boomers' retirement savings.  Outright theft would provoke a few old-timers to start shooting congresscritters, and that just won't do.  So instead, they just hyperinflate the currency while holding interest rates low.

Give everybody a million dollars, and a million dollars won't buy that much anymore but the people with no savings don't care.  In fact, the people with high debt loads make out like bandits.  You're too old to work, but you've scrimped and saved your whole life and have almost $1000000 saved up and that's supposed to last you?  Sucks to be you.

I'm sure this will be an EO within the month:

$28K/yr.  Yeah, that won't have any unintended, unanticipated consequences.
