Unspeakable Truths about Racial Inequality in America
« on: February 16, 2021, 09:59:21 AM »
Here's the text of a lecture delivered on 2/8 by Glenn Loury at UC Boulder.  I don't know anything much about the professor, and I don't think he's been cancelled yet, although I'm sure some are calling for it already.  I'm sharing it because I suspect many of us here will enjoy it.

Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will... The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress. ― Frederick Douglass

No American citizen should be willing to accept a government that uses its power against its own people.  -  Catherine Engelbrecht

That is an interesting article.

Sadly, I'm not sure that I dare share it on social media to folks that might need to read it.  Which probably proves much of the article correct.

While reading it, I realized that those who most need to hear the message he's delivering are actually incapable of understanding it.

Tons of very good (and sad) points.  He carefully addresses a number of things that I have been personally struggling to properly frame.

He's a brave man to publish it.

Hopefully, he has tenure.

He is a voice crying out in the wilderness and he most likely will not be heeded. There have been others speaking the truth before him and they were ignored.

Certainly I don't have any unique answers to the issues he addresses. I agree that it is on them to figure it out and not look to outsiders to "save" them. Taking personal responsibility for yourself and yours is always great advice. It is rarely heeded advice.

Unfortunately, supplanting, raiding and pillaging America in the name of reparations seems to be the chosen course. Thereby leaving all the root and foundational issues of their cultural dysfunction unaddressed.

I've come to a point in life where my goal is to insulate myself from both the ongoing insanity and what I perceive as the coming insanity. I wish them well.
For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

Okay, lets do reparations, in 1619 dollars. Should just about pay for a McD's value meal for everybody.  [popcorn]

He does regular podcasts/videos with John McWhorter, and he's also done at least one with Coleman Hughes. It's a real shame people aren't listening to guys like that. Instead, we're seeing this new era of racism in the West.

Nice to see someone warning of the inevitable backlash from the anti-white hate.

He's still only warning of the preliminary backlash, but it's good he's aware and warning of it. More people, for simple expediency, ought to be wary of dehumanizing a people.

I'm reminded of the Kipling poem: "When the Saxon began to hate"

By Rudyard Kipling

It was not part of their blood,
It came to them very late,
With long arrears to make good,
When the Saxon began to hate.

They were not easily moved,
They were icy — willing to wait
Till every count should be proved,
Ere the Saxon began to hate.

Their voices were even and low.
Their eyes were level and straight.
There was neither sign nor show
When the Saxon began to hate.

It was not preached to the crowd.
It was not taught by the state.
 No man spoke it aloud
When the Saxon began to hate.

It was not suddently bred.
 It will not swiftly abate.
 Through the chilled years ahead,
When Time shall count from the date
That the Saxon began to hate.

It's amazing how much Kipling applies to today...
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought
