Working my way through this investigative journalism piece on the origins of covid-19, where it came from, who funded its research and how it got funded.

The author is not a no nothing hack, from Wikipedia:
Nicholas Wade (born 17 May 1942) is a British author and journalist. He served as the staff writer for the Science Times section of The New York Times from 1982 to 2012. He is the author of the controversial book A Troublesome Inheritance: Genes, Race and Human History (2014).

In my mind, it's very likely the virus escaped the lab, for what that's worth.
