I'm going with "liberal democracy managed by oligarchy".

Of course the oligarchy has rigged all the elections so maybe we are just ruled by an oligarchy.
For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

There should be a "Police State" option . . . .

I think fascist is the best technical word to use, according to original definition. Nobody would admit to it but an invading alien would probably class it as such a system.
Maybe a rare occurence, but then you only have to get murdered once to ruin your whole day.

I would opine that we are an Administrative State.  The unelected bureaucracy promulgates rules and enforces them without Congress.  That bureaucracy is influenced by the ultra rich, so perhaps an Oligarchic Administrative State.

We are rapidly becoming an Idiocracy.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Unfortunately, they thought wrong.

We are supposed to be a Constitutional Republic, but all too often these days the Constitution isn't even being given lip service any more by members of all three branches of government.

Sadly, we seem to be proceeding to a Kleptocracy - government by thieves.
Trump won in 2016. Democrats haven't been so offended since Republicans came along and freed their slaves.

...a country with enough disinformation to keep the populace divided as special interests get what they want, while the populace fights over the scraps. Supposed to be a constitutional republic, but both parties have enough enough members to perverse the constitution at the expense of the people that are "supposed" to be represented. A very good example is all the pork put into legislation and special interests profit.

Seriously, how da faq did foreign companies end up controlling over 60% of the meat industry in this country... Smithfield, JBS, and National Beef.

Heinlein termed this the "Crazy times". Turns out he was prescient.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

I was telling my wife about Heinlein's "Crazy Years" the other day.  She had never heard about Heinlein or his works, but agreed things are pretty crazy.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.
