gourmands into poutain??
« on: August 14, 2021, 10:50:15 AM »

On a trip to Cleveland Clinic ran into a kiosk for lunch, poutain on the wall menu. What's that? "The national dish of Canada." "I'm game."

I'm one of the guys that likes gooey stuff, stews, goulash, etc. French fries, gravy & cheese curd (what's that?) and whatever. Kid said basically leftovers.

That was over a year ago and suddenly I'm hungry for poutain again. Scrambled eggs w/ diced bacon over french fries w/ shredded cheese (no curd in Applachia).

Wifey wanted the scrambled eggs or they'd have had onions & celery in 'em.

PS: Careful w/ the spelling!

Poutine is awesome.

My wife and I visited Quebec City three years ago.  While there, we did a guided foodie tour of the area that included six or seven stops at local restaurants.  Each restaurant served a little snack size portion of their dishes.  We had several poutines, from the basic to the fancy.  It was all great.

For some reason in the last couple of years curds have become available in more places. Here in Jersey, i can now get them at Shoprite, and Target. Plus, one of my clients is a big farm store/ garden center and they have them in their local grocery section mixed in with the local meats. Oddly enough, the ones from Target are the best. Down at my parentís place in SC, Iíve found them at Publix and Ingles. The ones at ingles are very good.
