If there was any question about the Supreme Court being political, Justice Sotomayor has just removed all doubt or question.

She needs to be reminded that the Supreme Court is not there to make laws, and it is not there to advance any justice's personal views or agenda. Their ONLY role is to decide if laws enacted by legislative bodies are constitutional. Whether or not they like the law isn't supposed to have anything to do with it. (But, obviously, it does.)

You're right, but saying so is like peeing into the wind.  One of the problems with high achievement is that one can easily develop the illusion that one is perfect in all things, hence frequently, arrogance abounds.
