Do you trust the US government to tell the truth?
« on: November 18, 2021, 05:34:54 PM »
How much do you trust the branches and agencies that make up the US government?

Edited to add:  Was there a time that you use to trust the government more?  What happened to erode that trust?

Nope. If they tell the truth it is a: opps did we say that or b: this makes us look great.

The government has no moral or legal obligation to tell the truth.  Never has, never will.  So why would they?  They wouldn't, unless they directly benefit from telling the truth.

Never trust a government that doesn't trust it's people. Seems like the government trust it's people less and less as time goes on.

First step is to understand that we don't have a US Government.  We have a bunch of factions Boeing for power and the ability to work towards their goals for themselves, the country, and the world.  Then understand that they will tell you what you need to gain your support in those endeavors.

When the people are afraid of their government you have tyranny.
When the government fears the people you have liberty.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

The government or the media?

Both.  I’m very Leary of anything government says and definitely don’t believe 90% of the media.

Everything is anarchy, even government.  There's a thin film of civility and fear of repercussions for most, and for a smaller percentage there's an actual moral compass.

The vast majority of "government" is self serving and operates under fixed-pie economics with no regard for repercussions.

Any truth that comes out of that is incidental.
"But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain - that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist."

Some combination of the three NO's listed is about where I'm at these days.
For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

I trust our federal government marginally more than the CCP.  Which is to say, any truth told is only done in service to their overarching goal of accruing more power.  Occasionally someone of conscience will speak up here, whereas in China they won’t lest their family get billed for the ammo used in their execution, with no credit for the value of the organs harvested (not necessarily after they shot you either).

The government and the media are both bureaucracies, which are occupied largely by people whose sole goal involves their wallet... Those people are easily manipulated by people with other goals.

  I voted for the government.
I love them and promise to obey!

I don't think anyone in power has told the whole, unadulterated truth in a long time.

I do think the mass media has contributed greatly to the problem. There is too much money and too much possibility to influence at stake. Once news became a marketable commodity, it became corruptible in a way we hadn't seen before.

I think that the only thing saving us from being completely screwed is that those with the power and money to control us don't typically work together and they are egotistical bastards. Their incompetency (and they have many) is what could be (and usually is) their downfall.

The US government could state that the sky was blue, and I'd look out the window before accepting it.

The real tragedy is I apply that to the "Justice" system too.  Only a fool still believes in due process anymore.  Your outcome will be determined by who you know and how big your warchest is.
