Christmas is for fun.
« on: November 25, 2021, 06:46:36 PM »
Yeah, reflection on the true meaning is all well and good, and I was in my share of Christmas plays, and so forth and so on...

But it is also a feast of celebration.

There is a family here who has taken a mall santa picture every year at the same mall since they were little kids. As they grew older, they got a little creative.

I'm not really sure what rules are involved, but it seems to be that the set and costumes has to come from what's in the garage, basement or attic.

This is this year's photo - I think it is my sixth with them. No mall this  year - they ventured into the great outdoors.

Celebrate!

That said, aren’t there some decently hot MILFs you can get to do something similar?

Pay aside,  that's a really cool gig.

Santa got some cheese...

(that's the family business)

Total time, including setup in the park, was maybe 45 minutes. I drank a beer (from the "one and done" pic at the brewpub) and watched.

One of the guys runs a media company now, and was fast... Probably hit about 50 or 100 shots, and this was one of the last/the best...

Oh, and we didn't use one for the shot, but he had some chinese Laowa superwide lenses that were really interesting. And cheap. And some were just tiny... As in drone-tiny...

I've always been kind of curious: how does the mall santa gig work?  Is the mall itself that sets that up, or do you work for some third party "hire a santa" company?  Do you accept a contract ahead of time for specific days/times and specific pay?

How did you go about getting into it?

The mall contracts with what is basically a photo company, which contracts with Santa. To do it right, same Santa, every day, all day, because it wouldn't do to have a kid see different Santas.

It pays well enough that it is hopefully going to be part of the retirement. But I might just freelance.

I was told that I was the best in St. Louis back when I was doing it. Went back to full-time employment for the benefits.

I am very young for a Santa, by the way.

Oh wow!  You are Santa in the picture?!  I have though that would be fun to do in retirement.  How do you like it?

Kids are great.

Kids with dad are great. Dad just want's to get it done. Bad dad jokes rock.

Kids with Karen are great. Karen? Not so much.

We get the beauty pageant poor little kids too... Mommy spends 20 minutes primping 'em, and then demands reshoots... "Hey, kid, look at me at tell me what you want for Christmas?" - rictus grin.

Teenagers get abused.

College kids get watched. No, there will not be a giant dildo in the photo.

High school girls in groups get situated, photographed, and Santa's hands are ALWAYS visible. And we try to set a speed record for those, because sometimes the girls think that they're gonna play with Santa.

Happy hour office ladies, after a few wines of rounds, can get weird. Bad Touch!

Kids mistake me for St Nick this time of year when I am out with my full white beard and red shirt.
I might not last very long or be very effective but I'll be a real pain in the ass for a minute!

Yeah,  you're a good natural Santa.

Mess with their little heads if they're being bratty in public.

Sometimes you'll hear Mommy say their name.

"Jimmy, you need to do what Mommy says, or my elves will put you on the naughty list." Then just turn and walk down the aisle...

I had one freak out, and call mall management, because I had a Daisy Red Ryder, still in the box, that I had purchased in the mall, as one of the "presents" on the photo set.

After that, when they told me it had to go, I gave it to the first "little boy" (he was about 6'4") who asked for it using the proper verbiage...

And they have the nerve to call us paranoid.
