Tucker Carlson on Fox had a segment about inflation last night.

He pointed out something we all know - government is lying about how high the current actual inflation rate is. Anyone who has to buy their own stuff knows the price of nearly everything has gone up more - a LOT more - than the reported inflation rate.

Years ago, the inflation formula was changed to make things look better - according to Carlson, if we were using the same inflation metrics that were used in 1982, reported inflation now would be over 15%, not the phony 7.2% they're talking about which nobody outside the beltway believes.

I'm seeing a 10% to 40% rise in many of the foodstuffs I buy. Some items, Wright bacon for example, approaching 70-80%.
Cat food - 10-20%
Clothing - 20-60%
Gas - ~50%
They just jacked up natural gas for home heating 30%

I was at the grocery store yesterday and was going to buy some tortillas.

They had just restocked, and there were a LOT of variations to choose from.

Two women (not together) were also looking - one said there were too many choices, the other said the prices had gone up noticeably. I agreed, and said inflation was higher than the government claimed - both nodded. So I picked up the package I wanted, and said "All I have to say about rising prices is . . . Let's Go Brandon."

I'm starting to see price increases in canned goods. I bought a bunch of canned beans today to make Calico Beans. Prices on a couple of the kinds that I bought were up about 10 cents a can.

But, I did get a nice smoked butt portion ham for 97 cents a pound on sale, so I can't complain about that. It goes into the deep freeze until I cook it in January.

I also have a half spiral sliced ham that I bought around Easter that I need to use.

I don't disagree with that idea.  A booming economy is often paired with inflation.  Sometimes inflation is good.

The problem I have is that inflation is increasing at a rate that is much faster than the economy is growing.

I had to jump through a bunch of flaming hoops with the IRS to get them to stop sending that money.  I don't need it and it is taxable, which makes no sense to me.
