Florida Tornadoes
« on: January 16, 2022, 12:21:27 PM »
Around 7:30 this morning a heavy storm rolled through where we are staying in Ft. Myers Beach.

Spawned several tornadoes to the west, northwest, north and south...all around us.  One funnel was on the ground in the Iona/McGregor area just a mile or two to the west of us.  It wrecked several mobile homes on the Tropicana RV/trailer resort.  There are people injured and missing there.  News is reporting 200 or more people have been displaced.  Our condo is adjacent to a large medical center area and we did hear a lot of sirens not long after the weather moved north east of us.

Another funnel toppled a Walmart semi over on Alligator Alley just east of Naples.  Driver was injured.  A lot of the news is still a bit sketchy.

Our building is concrete and has a decent pantry in the kitchen that opens to the garage that is part of the building and is a sort of safe room.  We got lucky and only had some rain and a wind gust or two.

Yeah we got woke up to a tornado warning  on the cell phones this morning.

A couple came through  the area, but none too close to my house.
