JP on Gun Control

The guy is fairly funny at times... And this does seem to outline the progression I've seen in a few "liberal" folks who I have known who have evolved into "classic liberals."

Well. as I've said for decades and I'll say again...

(1) The Second Amendment is perhaps the shortest and most tersely spelled-out fundamental right in the Constitution.  That makes me think they really really really meant it.

(2) All governments trend toward tyranny.  ("It is the essential function of government to progressively limit freedoms."  --Terry, 230RN, at various points in history.)

(3)  Sometimes it takes either a good mugging or a good tyranny to change peoples' minds about guns.

I then usually refer people to the Preamble to that Bill Of Rights, where its reason for existence is spelled out.

I especially appreciated his dismissal of the common attitude that "it can't happen here."

It indeedy-do can.
