Heard that this morning... very sad.

Star Spangled Banner sung effortlessly.

For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

I vaguely remember that being talked about at the time. People didn't expect the rocker to sing the anthem so respectfully. As an aside, it was nice seeing the athletes of the time also standing respectfully while the anthem was played.

Meatloaf seemed to be another of that breed of celebrity that is dying out that didn't overly exert their opinions into politics, etc. RIP.

RIP, dude.

Hadn't he had cardiac issues the last ten or fifteen years?

I just watched it.  I thought, uh oh, he's starting in too high a key.  But he nailed it.

I remember a few years back he did the "collapse on stage" thing.

I have enjoyed his music since the Rocky Horror Picture Show was new.

There have been some great voices in rock... On the male side, I'd go with Marvin Aday, Roger Daltrey, Ronnie James Dio, Bruce Dickson... For women? Benatar, Ann Wilson... And I'm sure I'm forgetting something...

And damn, but I was right the first time - I thought I'd gotten autocorrected when I looked back...

Paul Rogers from Bad Company and Burton Cummins of The Guess Who had great R&R voices.
