Today's experiment
« on: April 29, 2022, 10:37:35 PM »
Tempura dandelions. Turned out pretty good, did flowers and leaves. First time trying tempura too. Ice water, egg, sifted pastry flour minimally mixed.

A second course behind some very thick sirloins cooked on an oak fire, first grilling of the season.

OK, then...

Swing by my place. You'll get a ton of dandelions and I'll save on lawn chemicals.

Umm yeah, I never spray which is the only reason I can. I experiment with other lawn greens like plantain and dead nettle. The bees and the animals also appreciate my commitment to hating lawn grass.

I freaked out a neighbor some years ago. We were both on the HOA board and were doing a grounds walk around.

At one point I grabbed a handful of young plantain leaves and started munching down.

The look on her face was... priceless...

And the dogs pissing there gave them a nice salty flavor.

I want to try something like that. I should have a really good dandelion crop coming up in a few weeks.*
I’ve seen dandelion greens for sale at the grocery store for $5 a bundle.

Mine are all natural, organic, retriever fertilized.
