When I was doing the expedited transport thing, I had some youts throw an orange barrel in front of the truck, expecting me to stop at a convenient wide place just ahead. With plenty of places for people to stand in the shadows. That was a nope...

But if you start adding more armor wouldn't that make it a Battleship?

Only if I drive under an overpass near my house during a really good downpour...

I think it would be more of an armored cruiser.

I does highlight the usefulness of a truck and/or something with a strong engine rather than a tiny commuter car.  My Toyota Tacoma might be able to handle that.  Not certain.

You wouldn't want your airbags to blow... I'm guessing that was a midsize truck, probably hauling something of value.

Ought to be applied more frequently, maybe.

Ranch Hand and ARB seem to be the go-to standards.
I promise not to duck.

Any self identifying Battlecruiser needs nothing but the best, Feral Thumper Bullbars.

FWIW, if you live in deer country, reinforce the roof of your truck a bit, then run 1/4" or 3/8" steel cable TIGHT from each front corner bull bar to the same side corner of the roof - If Bambi leaps, bambi is more likely to get swept aside, rather than go through the windshield.

Or only half of Bambi goes through the windshield.

How about a protected cruiser?  :P

Height of bumper armor and ground clearance also matter.
I hit a deer at 80mph in my F250 and it went under the truck.
The steel bumper on my Jeep is about mid femur on an upright 6’ humanoid.
What we have here is failure to communicate.

Ahem.  That is not a bumper.  That is a trunker.

Also depends on the local deer.  My F150's steel number and lift ensure the adorable little things FL calls deer would go under it.  Bigger deer might stay in the grill.

I was in the middle of South Dakota when I hit that one. It was close to 200 pounds if I’m any judge in the headlights for a split second at 80mph and 0 dark 30. It bent my front tie rod causing severe toe in and exploded on the front axle. Parts of it were hanging from the outside rear view mirrors and strung out thru the wheels. Also parts packed around the exhaust manifold and cat converter and stinking bad the next day.
What we have here is failure to communicate.

A guarded toggle switch to cut-out the airbags would probably be worthwhile.

I've tagged two deer, and one black angus that decided that the middle of a country road at 3am was a good place to nap.

All three were totals, but still somewhat drivable to get to the rental place.

At least I wasn't the idiot who decided to drive a railroad right-of-way, despite signs, and get a wheel in a hole - and then just stand around until a train came along and zapped the vehicle, and all the test equipment that they didn't pull out while they were standing around.
