I wasn't there, of course, but I certainly remember when it was dominating the news.

Wow! I'd never heard of it. That is wild. It's a miracle that no one died. The miners had brass balls to sit and wait for that elevator. I'm wondering how the tug boat crew got to safety if their boat was already caught in the whirlpool.
